Originally, the Murano glass chandeliers were first created in Murano, one of the Islands in Venice. The history of the island is closely connected to the invention of the Venetian glass plus the world famous glassmakers from the same place. The chandeliers that hail from this historic island of Venice are considered more of artworks rather than it purely being functional, they are not just magnificent, they're extravagant and lends luxury . Fortunately for the modern world, the chandeliers that in ages past came from the island of Murano still continues being produced today from the descendants of the creative craftsmen and artisans that gave the world the touch of class and elegance.
These pretty and flirtatious glass chandeliers became prevalent after the iron, wood and brass era of chandeliers, and instantly brought a brand new dimension of fun and fashion to the idea of chandelier. But the delight of clients and customers who wanted a Murano glass chandelier to grace their homes had to contend with the undeniable fact that these weren't meant for mass production . The first Murano glass chandeliers were first produced round the early 1700s by the Venetian glass makers.The fame of the quality and wonder of Venetian glass was around for more than 500 years before the chandeliers were first introduced. Does murano glass have a unique identification mark on its art?
Answer:
I don't believe that they have a mark in the actual glass, the way that a ceramic piece would, but I looked it up and found this:
"Promovetro, the consortium of Glass Blowers in Venice is trying to stem the flood of counterfeit imports from Asia. New holographic stickers on the glass identifies which furnace made the item by using a numeric system. For more information on this initiative, visit their website for a list of member companies, and their identification numbers of each furnace. This new image is beginning to replace the gold foil oval "Made in Murano, Italy" familiar to so many."
